CBME Surgical Skills Training Program (February-March 2026 Edition)

 280,00

Organized by EduGradient, in collaboration with the Georgian Hernia Association and Gudushauri Hospital, Tbilisi, with academic leadership and surgical training led by Dr. Lasha Gulbani.

About the Program

The CBME Surgical Skills Training Program is a structured, intensive, hands-on surgical training experience designed for medical students across all academic years who want to build real operative confidence early in their careers.

This program follows a Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) framework, emphasizing:

  • Skill acquisition over passive observation
  • Structured progression from foundational techniques to advanced procedures
  • Clear procedural logic grounded in anatomy and clinical decision-making

The training is academically led by Dr. Lasha Gulbani, senior surgeon and core faculty, with specialized modules delivered in collaboration with the Georgian Hernia Association and real-world clinical exposure provided at Gudushauri Hospital.

Participants train using real surgical instruments, simulation setups, and ethically sourced bovine tissue models, ensuring high-fidelity skill development in a controlled learning environment.

An additional hospital rotation day extends learning beyond simulation, allowing students to observe and assist in live clinical settings under supervision.

Teaching Structure & Learning Methodology

Each module follows a consistent, competency-driven teaching model:

Focused Teaching
Every module begins with a concise, high-yield overview covering:
  • Relevant surgical anatomy
  • Indications and operative principles
  • Instrument handling and tissue planes
  • Procedural sequencing and logic

This ensures conceptual clarity before hands-on execution.

Central Live Demonstration
Lead Faculty: Dr. Lasha Gulbani
  • Procedures are demonstrated step-by-step on a central table
  • A live camera feed projects hand positioning, tissue handling, and critical movements
  • Participants observe the complete procedural flow before attempting it themselves
Guided Hands-On Surgical Practice
  • Participants perform procedures simultaneously at their workstations
  • Faculty circulate continuously, correcting technique and reinforcing principles
  • The pace is controlled, uniform, and competency-focused
  • Every participant progresses together, ensuring standardization of skill acquisition
